California bay Laurel Umbellularia californica

   

 The bay laurel stand along the Interpretive trail at I14/I15 is characterized by huge burls. We have seen what appear to be parasitic wasps (Cynipidae?) flying and alighting on the burls in spring and summer. 2-11-02
